School of Library & Information Studies alumna Sarah Lewis Marxsen passed away on Feb. 20 at Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee. 

Sarah was born in Tallahassee in 1926 and was a librarian in Columbia, South Carolina for 20 years. She received a master’s degree in theatre and speech from Northwestern University in 1955 and both a master’s (1970) and a doctorate (1984) in Library Science from Florida State University. The Lewis Marxsen-Scholarship is an annual fellowship that supports doctoral study at the School of Library & Information Studies.
