Dr. Nancy Everhart, president of the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), will be presenting the AASL President’s Program on Saturday, June 25, 10:30 a.m. in New Orleans during the American Library Association Annual Conference in the Convention Center, Room 260-262. Everhart will conclude her term as AASL president on June 28, 2011.

In addition, she will present Dr. Sally Karioth of The Florida State University, a world-renowned grief counselor and speaker whose use of humor and storytelling puts across insights and helpful suggestions. Dr. Karioth will discuss the current state of education and the role of school librarians as an area of concern, stress, and loss for many. The presentation will focus on personal responses to the present situation, on distinguishing between minor and major events, and on finding exquisite moments in each day. Immediately preceding the program is a cake reception to honor Dollar General’s contribution to school library programs.
