Professor-emeritus Alphonse F. Trezza, noted leader, educator and author, passed away July 15 in Tallahassee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 624 Miccosukee Road. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Philadelphia.
Professor Trezza, who taught at The Florida State University’s School of Library and Information Studies from 1982 to 1993, held positions as director of the Catholic Library Association, associate director of the American Library Association, director of the National Commission for Library and Information Science, and as a staff member of the Library of Congress. The Trezza Conference Room in FSU’s Louis Shores Building is named in his honor.
He received the American Library Association’s highest honor when he was inducted as an Honorary Member at its annual conference in 2007. He reflected on his life and career In a two-part Florida Libraries journal interview appearing in October and November, 1994.
