Communication Intern @ APA Florida

The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Florida) seeks a Communications Intern in its Tallahassee office. This in-person position would report to the Communications Manager and assist in helping implement the communications strategy for the organization’s 12 geographical sections and committees.

The applicant must be savvy with Canva, Adobe, PowerPoint, Sprout Social, YouTube Studio, MailChimp, Survey Monkey, JotForm, Zoom, GoToWebinar, and all social media platforms. Finalists will be asked to submit proof of expertise. This position will work with section and committee leaders to devise a cross-promotional content-sharing process to enhance the membership value of the organization’s more than 3,000 members.

The position tasks include but are not limited to:
• Updating section/committee websites and social media platforms
• Crafting branded and well-designed mass emails in MailChimp
• Assisting section/committee with event marketing
• Creating social media videos/graphics and fliers in Canva
• Updating membership rosters in MailChimp
• Assisting section/committee with webinars set up, production
• Creating event registration forms in JotForm
• Creating surveys in Survey Monkey
• Editing videos and uploading on YouTube
• Cross-promoting of section/committee online and in-person events
• Hosting trainings when required
• Monitoring Google Alerts

We want a creative self-starter who knows when to ask questions in a fast-paced non-profit environment. The ideal applicant is a well-organized multitasker who can handle changing priorities on a whim. Knowledge of standard branding principles is an advantage. General knowledge of the planning field is a bonus.
