Edelman Practice Area Public Affairs
Work with account teams to assist, implement, and monitor various projects within a specific set of accounts, while working closely with and learning from experts across the communications industry. Here are some of the activities you may perform on a daily basis:
- Read and identify media clips from clipping services and online resources and compile coverage reports
- Assist with monitoring client coverage to identify trends in online conversations and to pinpoint key influencers
- Create media lists and pitch the media under the direction of the supervisor
- Assist with preparation of press kits for distribution
- Conduct, compile, and present research to inform the strategic direction of campaigns or accounts
- Use web and social media analytics platforms to measure campaign success and provide data-backed recommendations for optimization
- Participate in strategic brainstorms around current clients or new business opportunities
- Draft pitch letters and/or email pitch memos to vendors with the approval of the supervisor
- Gain a basic understanding of key client information, including general business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors in the marketplace
Nuts and bolts of the internship program:

Interns are predominately post-graduates and are expected work a full-time schedule (Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)

Internships last four months, starting in September, January, or May

Interns are paid $14.00 per hour and are eligible for overtime

You have the….
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of account service staff within a specific set of accounts
- A basic understanding of research and media list building tools (Factiva, Edge, etc.)
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments, and deadlines
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with the public relations and communications disciplines through past coursework and/or other internships
