Guest Communications Internship

Department Overview:
Walt Disney World Guest Information and Collateral proactively focuses on providing our Guests and Cast with relevant, timely and accurate communication through collateral and future technologies to deliver resources that help Guests navigate/maximize their stay. In this internship you will create and assist in the development of printed and electronic communications provided to Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Hawai’i. You will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of over 60 individual pieces of collateral, updating in-room television systems and utilizing SAP to manage inventory and submit purchase orders. Translation of collateral and messages into written and spoken Japanese will be essential tasks in partnership with our translation and sales partners.

This is a full-time paid internship and we will work with you and your school to support academic credit, if applicable.

Role Description:

Our communications interns typically are responsible for:

  • Organizing and reviewing messages and collateral in English and Japanese
  • Coordinating the updates and creation of existing and new collateral in partnership with designers and vendors
  • Maintaining and improving existing communication vehicles, such as in-room and park collateral, in-room television and database for guest information
  • Assisting with purchasing and tracking of collateral
  • Limited desktop publishing for presentations, guest collateral, etc.
  • Participation in brainstorming and planning meetings with teammates and key business partners

Basic Qualifications:

These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for this position:

  • Currently enrolled, or graduated within 6 months of the start date of this internship, in a U.S. college/university earning a degree in Communication, Japanese language, International studies, Hospitality or a related major
  • Fluency in written and spoken Japanese
  • Proven ability to develop effective communication products with minimal editing
  • Writing, editing and proofreading experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated desktop publishing or graphic design experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Keynote
  • Experience working with SAP
  • Experience on Mac and Windows operating systems
  • Prior participation in the Disney College Program or other Disney experience
