Non-profit organization seeks intern(s) to develop efficient and reliable process for collecting, identifying, cataloging, storing, archiving and retrieving photographic and videographic material and other imagery.
Pyramid, Inc. seeks a mature intern(s) to assist in developing a system for managing the extensive photographic, videographic and other imagery that has been and will be created in its programming.
Pyramid, Inc. is a non-profit organization that offers arts-based programming to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Pyramid offers adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to explore and develop skills in the visual and performing arts. The organization has an extensive collection of photographs and videos of performances and related print materials that span over 16 years.
Photographs range from film-based imagery to digital. Some are identified; most are not. Much duplication exists, since the concept of tagging for retrieval is a relatively new one and images have been stored in multiple ways. Much of the imagery has no artistic merit but may warrant archiving for historic documentation of programming. Some of the imagery is used to communicate with the public about the work of the organization and needs to be of a publishable standard.
The selected intern(s) will
- work in the corporate office located in Tallahassee, Florida, during normal business hours or other hours as agreed.
- be supervised by an individual in that office, which houses three employees at this time.
- have access to a laptop computer (Microsoft Windows operating system), a high-quality multifunction printer/copier/scanner and other tools necessary to complete the project.
- interface with the information technology director located in Pensacola.
- participate in developing a measureable scope of work, appropriately phased, that addresses both historic images as well as future images, and a timeframe for completion of the project.
- research and make recommendations for all major aspects of implementing the project, including but not limited to:
- costs analyses of various storage options;
- keywording to ensure consistency among the six centers;
- privacy/permission concerns;
- standards for capturing the best possible “record” of activities;
- training materials for future users;
- written procedures that document the process.
Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and resume to Anne Peery, Project Manager (850-671-1690). Resumes and other evidence of skills and training can either be submitted by email to apeery@pyramidinc.org; by surface mail to 1349 E. Lafayette St., Tallahassee, FL 32301; or by fax to 850-656-0251.
This internship is not compensated. Pyramid, Inc., is committed to ensuring a mutually beneficial experience for the intern(s) and the organization.
