TITLE: Management Training Project Intern

REPORTS TO: Instruction Consultant & Training Program Coordinator
POSITION LOCATION: Virtual
PAY: $500 stipend
PERIOD: Part-time (up to 10 hours/week or 360 hours) starting August, 2015
POSITION SUMMARY
This internship position will support project activities related to the strategic opportunities grant for the Management Training and Community Building for Library Middle Managers Project. The intern will assist the project team in most phases of the project but will be primarily responsible for creating a trainers’ directory—a comprehensive list of library trainers in Florida—for future use, as well as, conducting an in-depth literature review. The incumbent will also create spreadsheets and tables, make phone calls, create surveys in Qualtrics, prepare slide presentations, and other duties as assigned by the project team. The position is part-time, flexible, and expected to take place virtually.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather contact information to create a comprehensive list of statewide library trainers
- Create a directory based on the information gathered above
- Conduct an in-depth literature review of training for middle managers in academic libraries (historical and current trends)
- Assist in designing survey tool and administering survey
- Assist with project activities involving Canvas, the Learning Management System (LMS)
QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications:
- Experience working in an academic library
- Current LIS student
- Strong interest in library management, human resources, and/or staff development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Reliable
- Detail oriented
- English fluency
- Ability to work virtually
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Optional qualifications:
- Experience using Canvas or other LMS
- Experience with Qualtrics
HOURS
Flexible work hours between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Must be able to overlap with supervisor’s work hours for meetings.
