Marketing and Communications intern

The Florida Institute of CPAs has an exciting opportunity for a marketing and communications intern. The intern filling this position should expect to gain experience and knowledge in the areas of advocacy, legislation research, policy issues and more. The intern is expected to interpret instruction and ask for direction in order to complete projects, and encouraged to contribute ideas leading to growth and improvement in the FICPA’s advocacy efforts, as well as membership-education initiatives. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of association communication, marketing and media outreach. The hours for this position will be approximately 15-20 hours per week and depend on the student’s school schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with FICPA advocacy efforts, programs, legislation and policy issues concerning the certified public accounting profession
  • Become knowledgeable in non-profit organization day-to-day operations and learn critical success factors for establishing and executing social media cultivation and positioning for a non-profit organization
  • Assist in designing the FICPA’s Advocacy newsletter
  • Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories
  • Update the FICPA Governmental Affairs website content when needed
  • Create content posts for Facebook and Twitter
  • Design and distribute printed marketing materials
  • Support FICPA Governmental Affairs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a major and/or minor in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Communication background is a plus
  • Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is beneficial
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and environments
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work as a team player
