Marketing & Event Intern

Tampa Bay Technology Forum (TBTF) is seeking an Intern to collaborate with the TBTF Staff as well as volunteers on various marketing, public relations and event planning projects. You will gain valuable experience and develop contacts with industry leaders in this exciting role.

TBTF is a non-profit professional association serving the technology industry in Tampa Bay. Our membership consists of hundreds of emerging technology companies, government entities, regional and global corporations, educators and other supporters of technology. Through events, education, networking, advocacy and philanthropy programs, we provide targeted forums that bring all the constituents of the technology industry together to advance our industry and member objectives.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with event planning of numerous programs including executive roundtables, seminars, black-tie awards gala and large fundraising event.
• Assist with producing e-invitations, print materials, name tags, etc.
• Assist with marketing the organization to potential members and with renewing existing members.
• Attend events and assist with registration and on-site logistics.
• Assist with writing and editing web site content, press releases, promotional pieces, event materials, etc.
• Assist with fundraising efforts for organization.
• Assist with updating organization’s social media sites – Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc.
• Assist with some administrative tasks – database management, follow-up calls, etc.
• Assist where needed in other projects involving marketing, public relations, events and fundraising.

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours a week, including some nights and/or morning events. This internship will run through August 31, 2010.

Qualifications:

Candidate must be a student currently enrolled in a degree program for mass communications, marketing, public relations, advertising or related field.

Additionally the candidate should have the following skills:

• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong writing skills.
• Extremely detail-oriented.
• Experience with social media.
• Expertise with MS Office is required particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently in a self-directed environment.
• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with varying deadlines and time constraints.
• Graphic design skills a plus.

Compensation: A stipend will be paid upon completion.
