This fall semester, DigitalLearn.org will bring on three dynamic MLS or other graduate students to take on various responsibilities associated with this PLA initiative. Interning for DigitalLearn.org is a great opportunity to work on a national project impacting a diversity of libraries and nonprofits. Those selected to work on this project will receive a stipend of $500 per semester (September to mid-December) for their efforts. This opportunity is a part-time (10-15 hours a week) telecommuting position and applicants can be from anywhere in the US.
eLearning Intern
Responsibilities
Plan and create online computer skills tutorials for DigitalLearn.org
Create scripts for online classes
Leverage Instructional Design knowledge to create educational and engaging interactive online classes for adult learners
Craft handouts to accompany online classes
Qualifications
Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
Experience in teaching computer classes or working in a computer lab
Experience working with adult learners
Interest in instructional design and online learning
Interest in public library issues, esp. in terms of digital literacy
Community Intern
Responsibilities
Provide assistance with cultivating a high level of engagement within the community of practice on DigtalLearn.org
Research and post resources that enhance and add value to the community
Engage with the posts on the site by answering questions, providing suggestions, and connecting people
Qualifications
Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
Experience in engaging with online communities
Experience in teaching computer classes or working in a computer lab
Interest in public library issues, esp. in terms of digital literacy
Outreach and Marketing Intern
Responsibilities
Assist with building awareness about DigitalLearn.org through social media and blogging
Update DigitalLearn.org social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr
Write creative blog posts related to digital literacy for DigitalLearn.org
Creating creative way to promote DigitalLearn.org
Qualifications
Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
Experience working with various social media outlets
Interest in public library issues, esp. in terms of digital literacy
Interest in marketing or public relations
