FSU Strozier Library Undergraduate Reference Services
Florida State University Libraries, Strozier Library Undergraduate Reference Services, seeks part-time Virtual Reference (VR) Desk Attendants
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Provide weekend and overnight coverage for the library’s VR service. Early morning, evening and overnight hours will be covered from home. Use live chat and online resource assistance to answer reference questions for on- and off-campus library patrons. Accurately assess users’ needs to provide reference services with strong communication skills, reference interview strategies and a high level of customer service
MINIMUM TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
Recent experience with personal computers, online library services and Web searching
Be a current resident of Tallahassee
Those providing VR service from home must have a PC and personal access to a fast, reliable broadband Internet connection
DESIRED TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Current enrollment in FSU’s School of Library and Information Studies
SALARY: $10-$12 per hour
HOURS: Friday, 6 pm to Saturday 10 am; Saturday 6 pm to Sunday 12 noon.
