Academic Librarian

Tallahassee Community College, a dynamic and growing comprehensive community college located in beautiful Tallahassee, Florida, invites applications for a public services librarian with a passion for learner-centered and innovative library services who would embrace an opportunity to build a transformational information literacy program with a team of talented and committed library faculty.   The TCC Library embraces its role in the teaching and learning process and is reorganizing it services and personnel to become a true teaching library that support student success.   The position is a full-time 12-month faculty position eligible for continuing contract and reports to the Chair of Information Literacy and Research Services.

Tallahassee is also home to two state universities, Florida State University and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent; knowledge of issues and trends in academic libraries; effective oral and written skills; ability and interest in instruction and information literacy; experience or recent coursework in reference and collection development; experience with distance education; mastery of Microsoft Office applications; experience with integrated library systems; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with culturally diverse library users and adult learners; creativity, flexibility, and initiative; ability to work independently and a part of a team; strong organizational and time management skills.  Evidence of strong technology skills as related to libraries and higher education.

PREFERRED:
Experience in an academic library; experience in provision of library services to distance students within course management systems; experience in teaching library research classes; exemplary collaborative work with discipline faculty and related student support units; potential for growth as an instructor and substantive service contributions; experience with Ex Libris Aleph LMS; commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

  • Use of technology and innovative approaches to enhance teaching and learning, including distance learning and alternative delivery systems
  • Willingness to support a diverse population of learners inside and beyond the classroom
  • Ability to work in a participatory and collegial setting

Faculty responsibilities include instruction, professional growth, curriculum development, academic advising, support of college policies and procedures, and participation in department and college activities and committees.
