Administrative/Production Coordinator at Mike Lux Media at Washington, D.C.

Role and Responsibilities

Mike Lux Media, a Democratic political consulting firm specializing in work with progressive organizations and a proud member of the national firm Democracy Partners, seeks an outgoing, creative, detail oriented, self-starting office coordinator to assist with managing daily office activities and projects.

You will report to the president and creative director on a variety of administrative tasks including, but not limited to scheduling and coordinating meetings, trips, and conference calls; drafting memos, social media posts, and online communications; filing and researching; maintaining databases; basic updating of websites; and answering phones. Scheduling for the president is a key component of your job, and attention to detail in this activity is essential.

MLM produces written, graphic, and video content across multiple social media platforms. Our own series include Mike Lux: The Politics Guy, which offers short analytic takes on the issues of the day, and The Undercurrent, a grassroots field reporting show. You will assist with filming and live streaming for this content. More qualified applicants will take on graphic design and video editing responsibilities. You will be expected to contribute ideas and feedback throughout the creative and production process, and will have a lot of latitude to explore and develop your own ideas for content and other projects.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.

• Interest/experience in politics and progressive policies.

• Proficiency with Apple computers and Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.

• Solid organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously.

• Excellent writing skills with attention to detail in grammar and punctuation.

• Can Do/Get Shit Done attitude. (We are a small firm and you will be expected to wear many hats.)

• Sense of humor and appetite to learn.

• High level of discretion and good judgment.

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

• Willingness to travel as needed.


Preferred Skills

• Creative/artistic eye.

• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.

• Video production experience.

• Proficiency in Action Network toolset.

• Digital organizing and online fundraising.

Compensation and Benefits

Benefits

• $36,000-50,000 per year, depending upon qualifications and experience.

• Medical and dental insurance.

• Four weeks of paid vacation per year to employees, after three months of employment: one week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and three weeks at your discretion.
