Sno-Isle Libraries is a large, two-county library district in the beautiful north Puget Sound region of Washington State. District boundaries stretch from rugged timberlands to suburban centers, from rolling farmlands to ocean vistas. Set in the fastest-growing corner of the state, Sno-Isle Libraries is home to a 1.5-million-item collection, serving more than 600,000 residents through 21 community libraries, a bookmobile, outreach services and www.sno-isle.org.  This position may include morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend hours including Sundays. Successful candidate may be required to adapt to future schedule and location changes depending on library needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES. ▪Plan, develop and create programs and materials for presentation of children’s programs, including reading programs, literacy-improvement projects, recreational reading and learning programs for various age groups at schools and other community groups. ▪Provide general readers advisory and reference services. ▪Assist in management of materials collection through assessment and interpretation of customer interests and analysis of review publications. ▪Maintain and develop reference materials and sources. ▪Apply computer and technology skills to provide effective customer service, communications and presentations for all ages. ▪Explain and demonstrate procedures and methods for bibliographic and reference searches. ▪Explain and assist with use of library facilities, equipment, rules and services which may include written and oral instruction and/or training of customers and staff.  ▪Maintain regular communication with other agencies, institutions and organizations serving children in the community.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS.  ▪An ALA-accredited MLIS plus two years of experience as a professional librarian.  ▪Possession of or ability to obtain a Washington State Librarian certificate upon employment.  ▪Competent knowledge of library materials, library district policies and procedures, integrated library computer system, materials-selection process, readers advisory, bibliographic search techniques and reference tools.  ▪Ability to use a bar-code reader, computer equipment, the Internet and standard office equipment; to speak, understand and write English clearly and concisely; to conduct reference interviews; to work cooperatively and maintain favorable relations with the public and co-workers.

COMPENSATION.  $24.88 to $34.20 per hour, 30 hours per week, plus benefits.
