Communications Specialist Overview: This full-time position supports the Director of Member Relations in many aspects of the organization’s communications and event management activities.
Key roles include:
- Providing analytics on key data including demographics, email deliverability, evaluations & survey reporting, social media, website, etc.
- Creation and maintenance of various online forms, evaluations, surveys, and applications to be used for a wide variety of programs, including awards, membership applications and intent to apply, internal volunteer applications, etc.
- Creation of graphics and maintenance of data for a Mobile App for an annual conference using Eventmobi
- Maintaining data integrity by researching bad e-mails, standardizing membership information, etc.
- Assisting with the creation of general communications, including dues, statewide announcements, region event notices, special trips, press releases, fundraising, reminders, etc.
- Creation of reports, including reports to the Board of Directors
- Website maintenance
- Layout of various publications and directories
- Video creation using Photopia or other video software
- Maintaining brand standards, including logo
- Creation and maintenance of groups and events in our association management system, Novi
- Assistance in training other staff members in association management software, on request
- Creating process improvements and automations
- Researching new software systems and new features in existing software used
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
The job requires significant technical competencies, including:
- Well-honed interpersonal skills, including ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Excellent communications skills, including writing and keeping others informed
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks, and promote process improvement
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Desire to learn new software systems as needed
- Physical requirements include sitting, reaching, light lifting, operating keyboard, ability to see and speak
- Bachelor’s Degree and three years experience in a related field
- High proficiency or demonstrated ability to quickly learn key software, including:

Reports to: Director of Member Relations
Location: Primary worksite location is the organization’s office headquarters in Tallahassee, Florida. Occasional travel, i.e., Annual Meeting.
