The Bipartisan Policy Center is a non-profit organization that combines the best ideas from both parties to promote health, security, and opportunity for all Americans. BPC drives principled and politically viable policy solutions through the power of rigorous analysis, painstaking negotiation, and aggressive advocacy.
As the only Washington, DC-based think tank that actively promotes bipartisanship, BPC works to address the key challenges facing the nation. Our policy solutions are the product of informed deliberations by former elected and appointed officials, business and labor leaders, and academics and advocates who represent both ends of the political spectrum. We are currently focused on health, energy, the economy, education, housing, immigration, infrastructure, and governance.
BPC has an opening for a full-time Communications Assistant. The Communications Assistant will track and report on the organization’s press coverage, maintain press lists, draft and send press releases and media advisories, and manage the editorial calendar. Job duties will include but not be limited to:
- Drafting, editing, and distributing press correspondence
- Managing and maintaining press lists
- Compiling and distributing daily press clips
- Fielding incoming media requests
- Writing content for weekly newsletters and the organization’s website
- Writing content for a weekly podcast
- Managing the editorial calendar for the media team
- Assisting in pitching and booking BPC experts for media interviews
- Staffing BPC experts and senior staff for interviews and appearances as needed
Qualifications and experience:
- Initiative and a high level of attention to detail while also managing multiple tasks
- Experience with Cision or other media contact databases and monitoring services
- An ability to work well in a team, take direction, and thrive independently
- Experience in dealing with reporters and high-level principals
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to produce high-quality work under deadlines
- The ideal candidate will also have experience and capacity in social and digital media
