ORGANIZATION: Since HopeOneSource, a nonprofit, all-volunteer-led effort launched in Washington, DC in fall 2015, the community has used this technology to support its efforts to prevent and end homelessness by increasing access to housing, career, and social services one text message at a time. As of May 2020, HopeOneSource has nearly 2,700 people registered that represents over 40% of the 6,521 residents in DC experiencing homelessness, according to a recent Department of Housing and Urban’s Development’s annual Point-in-Time count. Furthermore, nearly 500 service providers have benefited from our social impact technology that provides real-time, streamlined communications, data capture, and reporting.
HopeOneSource has proven itself as an essential resource in the fight against homelessness in the District, having helped many DC residents (like Judith, Van, and Ramondia) access the critical resources they needed to end their homelessness—including housing, career, and social services.
