Position Title: Communications Technology Specialist Position Number: VF0002
Salary Range: $35,000 – $40,000 annually dependant on qualifications. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Minimum training and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Film, Speech, English, Journalism, or a related degree plus 2 years of experience with public relations activities, which can include graphic design, promotional campaigns, event marketing, publications, and working with web-based, television, radio and print media efforts.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Knowledge of communication design and implementation. Knowledge of standard PC and Macintosh operating systems, and office software packages. Knowledge of information technology systems Knowledge of communications systems Skill in computer-based graphic design techniques. Skill in operating Adobe Dreamweaver, InDesign and Photoshop, Google Apps, Microsoft Outlook. Skill in social media communications. Skill in oral, written and interpersonal communications. Ability to determine work priorities and follow through on assignments independently. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to travel to meetings, events and functions.

Knowledge, skills and abilities preferred: Skill in operating video recording, editing, and reproduction equipment. Knowledge of video production techniques and multimedia design techniques, including creation of presentation DVDs and video/audio for the Web. Skill in writing news releases, print media articles, promotional materials, and publications such as brochures, annual reports, interim reports, and newsletters.
Preference will also be given to veterans and spouses who are eligible under the Veterans’ Preference Law. At time of application, submittal of Form DD214 is the minimum requirement for veterans’ preference claim.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the planning, logistics and technical work of designing, maintaining and updating all Volunteer Florida websites. Provides graphic design services for different units of Volunteer Florida and partner organizations when needed. Assists with e-newsletter, news releases, internal and other external marketing communications. Assists in the development and implementation of event-driven marketing communications projects such as conferences, recognition programs, signature events and training. Provides information technology support including desktop support and server maintenance and updates. Assists with increasing Volunteer Florida awareness through news activities such as maintaining press clips, reviewing the Web site to ensure content is current, and providing updated information for various informational vehicles. Acts as primary photographer and maintains photo library, video database, all imaging equipment and IT equipment. Other responsibilities as assigned.
