Panthera, a not-for-profit conservation organization that conserves the world’s 38 species of wild cats, seeks a full-time Digital Marketing Manager to be based in the New York City office. This position, available immediately, is an exciting opportunity to work with the world’s leading big cat conservation organization, and to join Panthera’s new Communications team, tasked with a sharp focus on transitioning and broadening the organization’s marketing activities.

Panthera is looking for a creative and engaging individual to highlight the organization’s dynamic conservation work by developing and managing Panthera’s digital and social media marketing strategies in order to grow upon and engage new communities, increase awareness about big cats and Panthera, grow Panthera’s support-base by number of individuals, and to assist with fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Panthera’s digital and social media marketing strategies.
  • Manage Panthera’s social media platforms and generate creative written and visual content for Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, Flickr, YouTube, Pinterest and other sites multiple times a day.
  • Grow Panthera’s existing social media communities and build communities on new social media platforms, such as Instagram.
  • Create plan for clear, quantifiable growth of social media followers across channels
  • Collect and analyze data from social and web traffic to inform social media strategy
  • Engage in interactive conversations with Panthera’s social media followers by consistently initiating and responding to dialogue regarding Panthera’s wild cat conservation work and related issues.
  • Monitor the latest news in wild cat and overall wildlife conservation to seed conversations with Panthera’s social media followers.
  • Coordinate with field staff, grantees, and other partners to research and aggregate stories, videos and photos from Panthera’s global wild cat conservation projects.
  • Communicate in a professional but unique social media ‘voice,’ representing the face of Panthera on social media.
  • Coordinate with Panthera staff to build and manage country or regional-based social media communities.
  • Conceptualize and direct Panthera’s social media campaigns.
  • Monitor activity on Panthera’s social media sites and traffic to Panthera’s website from social media platforms to enhance marketing efforts and target new demographics.
  • Manage Panthera’s social media advertisements, including Facebook Ads.
  • Promote Panthera’s fundraising campaigns, media features, public events, book and scientific publications and more on the organization’s social media channels.
  • Engage with influential bloggers, world-wide, to grow Panthera’s social media communities.
  • Monitor the latest trends in digital and social media marketing and propose adoption of new tools and sites in line with Panthera’s marketing strategies.
  • Educate and support Panthera’s global staff on the importance of social media, as well as the implementation of new technologies and campaigns.
  • Work closely with Panthera’s digital and social media consulting team on all of the above.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience in digital and social media marketing, with demonstrated professional success managing social media platforms via Facebook, Twitter, and other outlets
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications English or a related field preferred
  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications English or a related field preferred
  • Experience in conservation preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Experience with Google Analytics (or other analytics software)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage projects, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, multi-task environment
  • Ability to work well within a team and accept constructive criticism
  • Goal oriented, self-motivated, creative, highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Bonus: Technical experience with Drupal/Wordpress, HTML, SEO, etc.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
