Panthera, a not-for-profit conservation organization that conserves the world’s 38 species of wild cats, seeks a full-time Copywriter to be based in the New York City office. This position, available immediately, is an exciting opportunity to work with the world’s leading big cat conservation organization, and to join Panthera’s new Communications team, tasked with a sharp focus on transitioning and broadening the organization’s marketing activities.

Panthera is looking for a creative, eloquent and personable storyteller to highlight the organization’s dynamic conservation work through original and creative written content for Panthera’s various audiences and outlets.

Responsibilities

  • Generate engaging and original written content for Panthera’s numerous outlets and audiences, including:
    • Website content, ranging from daily blog posts, event pages,
      field stories, to program page updates, and more
    • Monthly newsletters
    • Press releases
    • Email blasts
    • Online fundraising campaigns and email appeals
    • Unique conservation articles (grey literature, online or print)
    • Public and internal presentations and speeches
    • Social media platforms, as needed
    • Other new and emerging outlets
  • Research and generate written content for Panthera’s marketing materials, including program brochures, posters, fact sheets, infographics, and more.
  • Coordinate with field staff, grantees, and other partners to research and aggregate stories, often to accompany videos and photos, from Panthera’s global wild cat conservation projects and grantees.
  • Work closely with multiple Departments internally to share and consolidate information for use in Communications and Development materials.
  • Coordinate with Digital Marketing Manager to share content and media for Panthera’s social media platforms.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience as a copywriter/content creator, preferably with experience in the conservation, science, wildlife, animal, and / or nonprofit sectors
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field preferred
  • Master’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field strongly preferred
  • Exceptional writing and emotive story-telling skills. Ability to communicate complex, science-based information to the general public
  • Ability to adapt writing for a variety of voices and audiences ranging from general public to scientific community
  • Some experience in writing online fundraising appeals preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage projects, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with AP Style
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, multi-task environment
  • Ability to work well within a team and accept constructive criticism
  • Goal oriented, self-motivated, creative, highly flexible and adaptable to change

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
