POSITION TITLE: EDP QUALITY CONTROL/SCHEDULING SPECIALIST – 2ND SHIFT

SPECIAL NOTES:
A background check is a condition of employment to include fingerprinting. Applicants are required to possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and three years of data processing experience, one year of which must have been in production and quality control.  College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required general data processing experience provided such education includes three courses in data processing; OR Vocational/technical training in data processing can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required general data processing experience. Preference will be given to applicants with 2 years experience in the following areas: IBM Mainframe data processing; TSO, CA7; IBM JCL experience. This is a swing shift position. The shift is 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Saturday through Wednesday. May be on-call on weekends and asked to temporarily work a different shift if necessary.

REQUIRED ENTRY-LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of mainframe operations, equipment, procedures, and workflow. Skill in operating IBM mainframe computer systems: e.g. 4381, ES 9000; working with automatic job scheduling systems; working with automatic cartridge tape library systems. Ability to read and understand technical data processing manuals; to correctly interpret and respond to computer error/instructional messages; to communicate technical data processing information effectively verbally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Monitor the running of nightly updates and verify completion codes of jobs to assure accuracy of production. Make corrections to job streams and reschedule any jobs which do not end normally or which do not produce the desired results. When necessary, work closely with programmers and/or analysts in making job stream changes and rescheduling jobs. Maintain nightly production log and other related records, which are used to evaluate workload and investigate problems.
