SPECIAL NOTES:
A background check is a condition of employment to include fingerprinting. Applicants are required to possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and three years of telecommunications, data processing (excluding data entry), electronics or engineering experience, one year of which must have been in telecommunications; OR A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences, management information systems or electronic engineering.

College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required non-telecommunications experience provided such education includes two courses in one of the areas described above.

Vocational/technical training in one of the areas described above can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours per year for a maximum of two years of the required non-telecommunications experience.

Completion of a vendor supplied program of study of four or more weeks in telecommunications can substitute for one year of the required experience.  Preference will be given to anyone with Cisco VOIP telephony, Router, or Switch experience.
REQUIRED ENTRY-LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of telecommunications principles, equipment, procedures and terminology.  Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; to work independently; to utilize problem-solving techniques; to collect, review, and analyze data; to establish and maintain effective relationships with others; to receive and carry out work assignments in a timely manner.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for daily support of the Cisco VOIP system, which includes but not limited to moves, adds, change, configuration, and troubleshooting of all hardware and software.  Maintains liaison with telephone companies, communications component vendors and users throughout the communications network with regard to proper operation, installation, and maintenance of voice and data lines and maintenance of equipment.  Responsible for processing online requisitions for the purchase of cellular devices and the administration of the Black Berry Server for remote communication.
