Salary Range

The minimum annual salary for the classification of this position is $23,660.  The Department may hire at the minimum or higher based on budget availability, salary analysis, and applicant’s relevant education and experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of full-time experience related to the duties of the position. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software. Experience evaluating applicant information and determining program eligibility. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Background Check Requirements

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.

Preferred

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related University and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of graduate Chemistry and Biochemistry academic program requirements. Knowledge of admissions, registration, and graduation requirements. Previous direct experience with Graduate Recruitment, Admissions, and Retention. Experience developing and implementing recruitment and orientation activities; working with International students; coordinating student visitations to campus; and using Prospective Student/Application Modules, NWRDC, Graduate Student Tracking System, Course Schedule Master, and/or Blackboard for administrative purposes. Familiarity with Access and PowerPoint. Prior graduate work in physical/biological sciences. Ability to promote and recruit science graduate students using web-based platforms and social media; establish work priorities; coordinate, and assign job tasks to others; and work well with others.

Responsibilities

Graduate student recruiting, including: coordinating implementation of the graduate recruiting process; promoting and marketing the graduate program in Chemistry & Biochemistry to prospective students, including development of new marketing tools; answering inquiries from prospective students and providing guidance and counseling; processing and tracking applications; scheduling recruiting visits; and preparing travel forms and initiating travel purchase orders.

Graduate student retention, including: maintaining up-to-date graduate student databases; serves as a liaison working closely with the Graduate School and International Center in matters relating to student policies and procedures; and promoting and nominating students for various fellowship and scholarship opportunities.

New graduate student orientation, including: planning and organizing new graduate student orientation program; maintaining up-to-date graduate student handbook.

Other duties related to supporting general activities in the Student Affairs Office.
