Instruction Librarian, Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX

Tenure-track, assistant professor, 12-month position. Sam Houston State University library is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic, service-oriented individual to provide leadership in planning, implementing, promoting and assessing the library’s instructional services. This position works collaboratively in a team-based environment to develop outreach services to meet the information needs of students and promote awareness of library resources. The Instruction Librarian will work to identify partnerships with campus programs and departments and seek ways to integrate library resources and instruction into academic programs. This position will participate in evening and weekend rotation. The library’s home page is http://library.shsu.edu/.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS.  A master’s in Library  Science from an ALA-accredited institution; three years’ experience in an academic library providing instruction and reference services; successful experience in library user education and/or instructional technology; successful experience in the use of traditional and electronic reference sources in an academic library; effective written and oral skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. Preference will be given to candidates with the following: collection-development experience for Education; experience with course-management software; experience or training in the use of Web authoring tools and desktop publishing software; successful teaching experience.

BENEFITS. Minimum salary of $47,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
