IT Support Assistant @ FSU College of Fine Arts

This position is with the Dean’s Office at the Florida State University College of Fine Arts (CFA). The CFA offers degree programs in Art, Art Education, Art History, Dance, Interior Architecture and Design, and Theatre. The College also houses non-academic units including the Museum of Fine Arts.

Responsibilities

The core functions of the College IT Support Assistant position are as follows: 

Responsible for assisting and providing user support for technology-related issues and functions throughout the College of Fine Arts. 

Provide support to various computer labs and classroom environments within the College of Fine Arts. This includes assisting with design, setup, installs and uninstalls, maintenance, audits and troubleshooting of all equipment. 

Provide hardware and software support for the College’s administrative staff and faculty, including desktop support for Windows and Apple devices. Support involves installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of software, hardware, and related peripherals. 

Responsible for responding to onsite, electronic or phone inquiries to assist end users with day-to-day issues with software and hardware needs. 

Assist with inventory and supply issues relating to information technology needs of the college. 

Support college with preventative maintenance, identification of user requirements, software installs/upgrades, system problems and supporting new technologies. 

Track and respond to IT related ticket requests. This includes logging response time and following up with requesters to track feedback responses.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures for computer support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Ability to convey technical information to technical and nontechnical users.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position to include bending, knelling, crawling, and moving objects up to 50 lbs.
  • A valid Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with customer service skills. 
  • Experience with support of Windows, Linux, or Macintosh computers. 
  • Experience with troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintenance and repairs of a variety of equipment and machinery used in area of work.
