Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field; or high school diploma/equivalency and four years of experience related to the duties of the job. (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
  • Experience providing technical assistance for software applications, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite or comparable software. Experience with trouble-shooting, and the ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and work independently.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Windows 7, Active Directory, and networking or comparable technology. Working knowledge of the installation, configuration, maintenance, and updates of hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate with Florida State University Information Technology Services and vendors of department-specific software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining department workstations, laptop computers, and biofeedback lab computers running Windows 7 as well as printers and other peripherals. Identifies and troubleshoots complex computer hardware and software application problems. Serves as technology expert for operating systems and desktop support.
  • Responsible for technical assistance with software applications including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Titanium Scheduler, SmartShield, and biofeedback programs. Assists with the training, orientation, and set-up of computers for new employees. Supports all staff in the use of applications and in the preparation for in-house and off-site presentations.
  • Coordinates with FSU ITS on projects involving Titanium SQL Server, data storage, security, networking, etc. to ensure that necessary upgrades and problems are addressed in a timely manner. Coordinates and communicates with other departments in the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) and University to optimize the use of technology and learns from others’ experiences with equipment and software. Attends departmental and campus meetings to keep abreast of relevant technical information and developments.
  • Represents the UCC as a liaison to vendors regarding technical support for hardware and department-specific software (e.g. Titanium Scheduler, biofeedback programs) to maintain, troubleshoot, and maximize efficiency.
  • Documents solutions and maintains department’s equipment inventory. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Associate Director, or Assistant Director.
  • Evaluates departmental technical needs on an on-going basis and offers recommendations regarding budgeting and purchasing of hardware and software. Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, updates, and repair of hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Assists website committee with the maintenance of departmental website to ensure information is kept up-to-date and accessible. Coordinates with DSA staff on major revisions and updates to the website.
