Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting with the development of a web-based National Crime Information Center (NCIC) software package for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), to include:
- Responsible for developing and testing new features.
- Responsible for integration with Records Management Systems (RMS) and peripherals.
- Responsible for working with Records Management System (RMS) vendors to integrate data into a readable format (i.e., XML, Base64, and images).
- Responsible for performing Unit and System Tests and documenting results.
- Responsible for testing software releases and ensuring accuracy before releasing through automated updates.
- Responsible for managing website and network infrastructure in compliance with FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy.
- Responsible for proving technical support to users of a web-based National Crime Information Center (NCIC) software package for Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), to include:
- Responsible for identifying which features LEAs need from the project.
- Responsible for working with lead Application Developer/Designer to categorize new feature/customization requests and develop solutions.
- Responsible for training LEA group administrators how to use the project’s online issue tracker in the event that further support is required.
- Responsible for acting as a consultant to agencies when implementing ELVIS in an agency’s current infrastructure, including but limited to integration with existing systems, recommending changes to policies and procedures, and assisting with preparation for audits by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
- Responsible for ensuring Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) accessing the system maintain federal and state level Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security policy compliance by having proper documentation completed and providing specific instruction on additional technology requirements to users.
- Offers consulting and/or troubleshooting to agencies that request assistance gaining compliance in any area, including but not limited to network/firewall configuration, operating system and browser configuration, written policy requirements, advanced (two-factor) authentication requirements, mobile device access, physical access controls, and proper media disposal methods.
- Responsible for using subject matter expertise to create training materials, such as power points, computer based training (CBT) modules, training videos, and more in an effort to streamline and minimize support. Responsible for working with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Department of Highway Safety (DHSMV), and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to ensure data and security requirements are met and to assist the Systems Architect in creating software that meets the needs of the data stakeholders across the state of Florida.
- Responsible for working with external application vendors such as Records Management System (RMS) vendors, Two-Factor Authentication Vendors, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) vendors, etc. to gather and analyze integration requirements, create specifications, and develop and write code to support new and existing integrations. Identifies current and future needs to ensure the applications support the project’s mission.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years’ experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other appropriate degree preferred.

- Experience making training materials
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues
- Experience providing telephone support
