Library Director – Florence County

Job Description     
The Board of Trustees of the Florence County Public Library System is seeking a progressive director for its main and five newly-built branch libraries. The library system is a member of the state’s public libraries’ consortium, SC LENDS and has very vibrant and active friends’ groups. Florence County is located in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina and has a council-administrator form of government and a population of approximately 138,000 people. It is in close proximity to Myrtle Beach, Columbia, the state’s capital, and the historic port city of Charleston.

Qualifications   
The successful candidate must possess a MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited university and must have seven or more years of progressive and successful administrative and managerial experience in a comparable-sized public library system or a large branch library in a major system. The candidate must have qualitative experience in the operations and maintenance of automated library management systems, budget analysis, preparation, and administration, and public relations; be an effective collaborator who can maintain and build working partnerships with county, city, and state officials and other community entities to ensure the deliverance of effective and desirable services to county residents; must also possess strong written and oral communicative skills.
