Library Director – Lancaster County

Job Description  
Due to the retirement of the Director, the Board of Trustees of the Lancaster County Library (South Carolina) is seeking an experienced administrator with the energy, vision, passion, and commitment to quality public library services that will enable the library to build upon an established successful program. The director coordinates and supervises all phases of the library system including short and long range planning, budget preparation, and maintaining effective public relations. Successful candidates must have excellent verbal and written skills, demonstrated leadership ability, integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively with board, staff, and community groups. Lancaster County is one of SC’s fastest growing counties bordering Charlotte, North Carolina. The Lancaster County Library is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications     
The director must have an ALA-accredited masters degree in library science with at least five years of progressively responsible professional public library experience, including three years management and supervisory experience. Strong political skills, knowledge of library technology issues, and experience with public library construction programs are preferred. The construction of a new main library building is planned within the next three years.
