SUMMARY.  To enhance user access to information by 1) assisting with provision of reference and instruction in basic library research skills to students, faculty, and other library users; 2) liaising with the IT department to update, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and inventory the computer software and hardware for the library’s networked PCs and printers and specialized assistive technologies; 3) assisting with creation and maintenance of library content for web and mobile devices and creation of instructional materials for program support; 4) providing technical support and instruction for the library staff and collaborating with the Open Computer Lab to provide technical support for students.

RESPONSIBILITIES.  Assist with staffing service desk to provide reference and circulation services. Assist with providing class instruction as credentials allow. Troubleshoot and maintain library equipment, assist IT with updates, repairs, inventory.  Assist OCL with provision of technical and lab support as needed. Contribute to blogs, creation of Libguides, and other instructional materials. Assist with collection development and maintenance. Assist with marketing of services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.  A baccalaureate degree (science, social sciences, or health technologies preferred). Course work or experience in reference services and instruction, and/or a degree in library science/information systems technology. Courses or training in web-page design/social media. Public-service experience in a reference setting. Teaching or instruction-related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. Prefer some experience publishing web pages, blogs, podcasts, or instructional media, or creating web-based or mobile applications. Prefer at least 18 credit hours completed in a Library Science Master’s Degree program.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES. Some knowledge of library reference sources, classification, organization, and service goals. Ability to communicate well with and cheerfully assist people from diverse backgrounds. Teaching or other related instructional support or experience. Basic skill in equipment operation and routine PC maintenance. Basic knowledge of current computer operating systems, office and web-publishing software, and library database applications and computer networking. Ability to quickly learn routine PC troubleshooting and maintenance. Ability to assist locally with creation and maintenance of web pages/instructional or marketing materials using standard html, blogging software, editors and basic graphics packages.

BASE PAY.  $35,303 – $51,554.
