Archivist @ The Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center

The Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center is conducting a search for an archivist to complete a one (1) year-long contracted archival management project beginning January 19th, 2022 and ending December 2022. This is a full-time position with a salary of $40,000. This project offers an exciting opportunity to design and implement an archival system for a growing institution through the National Endowment for the Humanities funded Lincolnville Collections Management Project.

Key Responsibilities

● Develop and carry out a collection processing plan by creating a LMCC Archival Handbook including policies, procedures, and best practices for accessions, collections management, and digitization.

● Arranging materials for organization and ease of use by researchers.

● Re-housing materials into appropriate archival enclosures for preservation.

● Inventory the physical collections and compile a DACS-compliant finding aid with container list.

● Cataloging of archival collections into the PastPerfect database and standardizing of existing records.

● Supervise and mentor interns in meaningful archives projects.

Required Qualifications

● American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree, or a Master’s degree in a related area of specialization or Society of American Archivists’ Archivist Certification.

● Minimum two years’ experience with collection development and content curation.

● Demonstrated leadership and experience in creating and supervising workflows and project implementation.

● Demonstrated knowledge of digital production including digitization, metadata creation, and preservation best practices and standards.

● Must be a seasoned professional with experience in conceptualizing and completing major projects related to both community archives and digital archives.

● Knowledge of mainstream metadata schemas and digital library systems.

● Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks.

● Ability to follow complex standard operating procedures.

Desirable Qualifications

● At least two years of work experience in an archival repository.

● Knowledge of and experience working with photographic formats.

● Experience or familiarity with PastPerfect, integrated library systems, and a high-level of proficiency using PC-based applications.

● Ability to keep up with emerging technologies.

● Experience in processing and the development of completed finding aids.

About the LMCC: The Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center (LMCC) is located in the heart of Saint Augustine, Florida, the nation’s oldest continuously inhabited city.
