Willet Memorial Library at Wesleyan College is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic librarian to serve as Archivist/Public Services Librarian. Reporting to the Library Director, the Archivist/Public Services Librarian will divide duties equally between public services and archives.
Primary job responsibilities: Work as a member of the Wesleyan College Library public services staff and serve as Campus Archivist; including circulation, reference and instruction duties, special collections, and archives. This position would require night and weekend rotation hours.
Required Qualifications:
ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in library or information sciences, with concentration, or coursework, in archival studies or management; Knowledge of basic reference sources and library procedures; Familiarity with online search strategies; Familiarity with Information Literacy Standards and best practices for library instruction in an academic setting; Experience with public services and a commitment to the instructor’s role in an academic library setting; Experience working with archives, or special collections; including understanding of technology, national and international standards and best practices in the field; Experience working with institutional records; Knowledge of basic conservation and preservation standards for archival collections; Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to lift up to 30-40 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Innovative, OCLC WMS or other cloud based library systems; Experience working with GALILEO, or another database consortium; Experience working with PastPerfect, EAD and/or other archival software, equipment and tools; Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
