As a member of the Instructional and Research Services department in the Kraemer Family Library, the Instructional Assessment Librarian provides information literacy instruction and research assistance in various formats while providing guidance to the department and other librarians on methods and best practices for evaluating and improving their practice in these areas. This position explores additional interests in developing, delivering, and promoting library services and may be asked to take on other duties as assigned. The position requires commitments in the areas of Teaching/Librarianship and Leadership and Service. Scholarly/Creative Work is not required.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Develop assessment instruments that produce actionable feedback for improving course integrated and workshop-based information literacy instruction.
  2. Consult with librarians to help them choose or develop appropriate methods to assess and improve their information literacy instruction.
  3. Collaborate with the Instructional and Research Services department in developing assessable learning outcomes and assessment methods that support the ongoing development of the information literacy instruction partnership with the First Year Rhetoric and Writing Program.
  4. Use reference interaction data to identify trends and frequently asked questions with the goal of maintaining responsive public FAQs/knowledge bases on the library website and identifying training opportunities for public facing library faculty, staff, and students.
  5. Provide face-to-face and online information literacy instruction in library workshops, the Gateway Program Seminar, the First Year Rhetoric and Writing Program, and assigned liaison department(s). This may include night and weekend classes.
  6. Provide service at the Research Assistance Desk, including occasional nights and weekends.
  7. Serve as a liaison to academic divisions or departments, providing collection development, library instruction, and research assistance.
  8. Participate in the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, and goals for the Instructional and Research Services department and the Kraemer Family Library.
  9. Demonstrate a commitment to the academic or campus community through library, campus, CU System, or professional service activities.

The job duties above can be modified based on evolving employee, library, and/or institutional needs.

Work Location: On-site

Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer: 

Salary Range: Generally starting at $45,000 – $48,000 annually
