MAJOR FUNCTION: Tallahassee Community College seeks a detailed and service oriented person to manage Acquisitions functions for the TCC Library. As part of the Technical and Access Services team this person will work closely with all technical and public service staff and functions. Primary responsibilities include working with TCC Business Office procedures and systems to initiate and receive orders, reconcile invoices, enter and maintain Acquisitions records in the library ILS, track ordering and spending, and serve as primary administrative and technical contact with library materials and database vendors.

MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree and two years of library experience. Two years of purchasing experience in Higher Education may substitute for library experience.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of basic library services, functions and resources. Knowledge of current library bibliographic standards. Knowledge of LMS or ILS modules and functions. Basic knowledge of database licensing agreements, authorization needs, and pricing models. Knowledge of computer productivity programs MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. Skill in providing excellent customer service. Skill in managing spreadsheets and data. Ability to learn and utilize various electronic systems concurrently including Outlook, Excel, the LMS/ILS, TCC’s ERP used for ordering, and multiple vendor ordering platforms. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with vendors, colleagues, and students. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to follow and create policies and procedures. Ability to accurately enter and verify data, using these systems, for long periods of time. Ability to work in public service areas. Ability to make independent judgments and problem-solve. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to work with various types of financial records and track budgets. Ability to train and supervise OPS staff and student assistants. Ability to learn and enforce TCC, Library, and Technical Services policies and procedures.

PREFERENCE: Preference will be given to candidates with experience with Acquisitions using a Library Management System or with the Workday ERP. Preference will also be given to veterans and spouses who are eligible under the Veterans’ Preference Law.
