Position Overview:

The Innovation Studio connects the Central community to emerging and innovative technologies that empower the creation of new knowledge.  This position is responsible for the management of the innovation studio, supervising 2 FTE employees and 4 part-time student workers. Reaches out to campus community, especially STEM, to support and develop their creative projects.   The position reports to the Director of Library Technology & Data Management.

The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. **Note** This is an on call position which may require additional work outside of regular office hours to respond to related technical emergencies.

  • Supervise and train Innovation Studio staff in day-to-day operations of the Studio 
  • Designs and updates Studio policies and equipment operations documents as needed. 
  • Monitor trends in emerging and immersive technologies and make recommendations for equipment purchase and integration in the Studio. 
  • Evaluate, implement, adapt, and assess innovative technologies (3D printing and design, virtual/augmented reality, electronics, programming, media productions, etc.) 
  • Obtain quotes for institutional licenses for emerging technologies 
  • Conduct outreach activities and partner with faculty to develop assignments, workshops, and collaborations, utilizing technology in the Studio. 
  • Plan and implement programs to advertise and display digital scholarships created with emerging and immersive technologies. 
  • Assists library users in the Studio 
  • Develop online tutorials for equipment. 
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technology. 
  • Collect data on the Studio activities and analyze to make recommendations to supervisor on policy changes, hours of operation, and success of Studio initiatives. 
  • Visit other libraries and/or attend professional development activities for hands on evaluation of emerging technologies 
  • Identify and apply for grants to support the Innovation Studio
