Part-time Library Assistant @ Broward College, North Campus

Position: Part time Library Assistant (REQ-000026654)

 

Job Description Summary: The Broward College/North Campus Library is a joint-use facility located in Coconut Creek, FL, serving Broward College students and Broward County Library patrons. Under direct supervision, this position provides support

to the North Campus faculty librarians and the daily activities of students and instructors in the Academic Success Center on Broward College’s North Campus.

 

Minimum Education: 18 hours towards an ALA-accredited Master’s or currently enrolled in a Master’s program

 

Minimum Experience/Training: Experience with reference and instruction services or working in an academic environment serving college students preferred. Teaching experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to respond to patron needs and public service situations that may arise
  • Knowledge of MLA and APA style guides and citations and ability to offer to tutor for written assignments in the Writing Lab
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening assignments
  • Serve as part of the Reference Desk rotation
  • Ability to use good judgment and respond professionally when situations escalate to higher management
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a culturally diverse environment
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff

 

Compensation: $20.00/hour
