Reference Librarian @ Barry University Law Library

Barry University Law Library seeks an energetic and innovative individual to fill the position of Reference Librarian and Assistant/Associate Professor of Law Library.  This librarian is responsible for the legal research method education of Barry law students, teaching classes and workshops, and meeting in small groups and one-on-one instructing in any topic of legal research education.  Additionally, this librarian assists law faculty with educational technology and identifies research resources for them.  The reference librarian provides both traditional and virtual reference and research instruction to all library patrons, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the bar.

 

Barry University School of Law is a private, Catholic law school located in Orlando, Florida.  Founded in 1999, the School of Law is fully accredited by the American Bar Association’s Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar.  It is a satellite campus of Barry University, which is located four hours south, in Miami Shores, Florida, and was founded in 1940.  The School of Law is hidden away in a beautiful, oasis-like campus lined with palm trees, 15 minutes from downtown Orlando.  The School of Law has 600 full-time students in its JD program, with a faculty of about 30 tenured or tenure-track professors.

 

The Reference Librarian and Assistant/Associate Professor of Law Library position requires a comprehensive knowledge of legal research and resources, expert skill level with Westlaw and Lexis, and an expert ability to learn and teach other legal information technologies, such as HeinOnline and ProQuest.  The position requires both a JD and MLS, although students in their last semester of library school will be considered.
