We are seeking a Research Instruction librarian who is dedicated to student success and teaching
excellence in a liberal arts environment. This librarian will serve as liaison to the School of Education
and the Department of Psychology, which entails providing reference support and collaborating with
faculty to deliver information literacy instruction in these programs. This librarian will also use their
strong outreach skills to help Milne Library build connections to the greater Geneseo community.
The successful applicant will enter a full-time tenure-track position at the Sr. Assistant Librarian rank;
the initial appointment for this position is two years with the potential for renewal. We strongly

Responsibilities
• Develop and provide specialized information literacy instruction as a liaison to the School of
Education and the Department of Psychology, and the library’s general instruction program
for undergraduates
• Provide support to students, faculty, and staff through research help services, including inperson
consultations and online communications
• Engage in sustained outreach to students and faculty in assigned liaison areas to ensure
their awareness of library resources and services
• Create and maintain subject- and course-related online research guides and/or instructional
tools
• Explore and coordinate inclusive community partnerships to provide outreach and programs
that meet the needs of the greater Geneseo community
• Participate on library teams or committees in support of the library’s mission
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited school or an
ALA-approved foreign equivalent by time of appointment
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching
environment
• Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy and best practices of information literacy
instruction
• Demonstrated understanding of principles of reference assistance
• Expressed interest
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience or relevant degree in the fields of psychology or education
• Experience teaching student populations
• Experience as a community volunteer, program organizer, or similar position that included
running programs with community members
