Clemson University Libraries seek a service-focused, science-loving, collaborative librarian to serve as a Science Librarian. As a liaison to select departments in the sciences, the Science Librarian will provide research assistance, instruction, collection development, and outreach to students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will join an engaged faculty dedicated to fulfilling the libraries’ mission to provide innovative and inclusive collections, programs, services, and technologies that support Clemson University goals, and the information needs of all. Libraries’ faculty are members of the academic community, with responsibilities in the areas of librarianship, scholarship, and service. This is a 12-month tenure-track faculty position and works under the direction of the Head of Teaching and Learning, a department within the newly created division of Teaching, Learning, & Research. The Science Librarian serves as the primary liaison to designated departments in the sciences (liaison areas may be flexible based on candidate experience and interests); provides research support for and consultations with faculty and students, responds to requests for information, and collaborates with library colleagues to support student success and all aspects of the research lifecycle. Other responsibilities will be related to Instruction and Outreach, Collection Development, Research, Scholarship, and Service.

Qualified candidates will have an ALA-accredited graduate degree in librarianship (proof of degree completion needed by date of appointment), demonstrated interest in the sciences, and Demonstrated commitment to the promotion and enhancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Ideal candidates will have experience providing information and research services in an academic library (may be student internship experience) and teaching experience, which may include designing online resources, consulting with individual researchers or project teams, and planning in-person or virtual workshops or class sessions.
