Publications Production Specialist @ Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

This position serves as the Interpretive Products Designer and Project Coordinator for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Public Access Services Office. The Incumbent designs and edits interpretive materials and wayfinding signage, manages the production process and keeps organized records.

Duties Include:

  • Graphic Design – 50%
    Selects, prepares, creates, reviews and completes free-hand or computer assisted artwork, graphics and typography using Adobe Creative Suite. Reviews and edits map designs provided by cartographer in Adobe Illustrator, conforming to cartographic standards. Designs publications, interpretive panels, and other public information products. Maintains updated design and cartography standards for appropriate, graphically pleasing and accessible public communications.
  • Production Management – 30%
    Tracks the interpretive product production process, ensures timely product completion from concept to graphic design to printer to delivery and installation where needed. Obtains quotes, coordinates with business manager to ensure timely issuance of purchase orders and processing of invoices. Updates and maintains a database of interpretive products including type, dimensions, cost, production date and vendor. Organizes and maintains electronic records such as print or fabrication production specifications, contracts and photo releases.
  • Photo Management – 15%
    Assists in selecting appropriate photos for use in interpretive products. Helps manage photo database using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Secures and stores photo and model releases.
  • Other Duties – 5%
    Attends staff meetings, participates in professional development courses as appropriate. Responds to telephone and mail inquires. Occasional participation in agency outreach events. Travel with overnight stays may be required.
