The William H. Hannon Library at Loyola Marymount University seeks an energetic, user-oriented, public-services librarian to serve as Reference and Instruction Librarian for Business.  Must have degree, background, or interest in business, accounting, economics, or a related field and be willing to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities. This Librarian: provides high-quality reference, instruction, collection-development and outreach services to the LMU community, with a particular emphasis on LMU’s College of Business Administration; serves as the lead provider of information-literacy instruction and web-based research material in support of undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Business Administration; works on the Information Desk; takes part in virtual reference; assists with Reference Department projects, assessment and decision making; reports to the Head of Reference and Instructional Services.

LMU librarians are expected to provide service to the library, the university and the profession.  They are also expected to pursue professional development opportunities.

     Required:

•    Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited graduate program or related field

•    Undergraduate or graduate degree, certificate, background, or demonstrated interest in business, accounting, economics, or a related field.

•    Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral).  Good attentive listening skills are essential as well as a strong user-service orientation.

•    Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of basic reference sources and reference practices.

•    Demonstrated knowledge in the area of library instruction and information literacy.

•    Proficient in Mac and Windows operating systems and commonly used productivity software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe products.

•    Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

     Preferred:

•    Two years of experience providing business-related reference and instruction services in an academic library setting.

•    Demonstrated knowledge and experience with business, financial or technical information resources, including tools such as Research Insight, Euromonitor, Business Insights: Global, and ABI/Inform.

•    Knowledge in the area of building, managing, and assessing business collections.
