Responsibilities
The FSU Research Computing Center seeks a motivated, energetic part time staff member to join our systems team. This is a great opportunity to bolster your systems, hardware, and project management skills while gaining real-world on-the-job experience. In this position, you will work with our systems and administrative staff to support the High Performance Computing Cluster (HPC) and other large research computing systems by: * participating in hardware installation and maintenance of server systems, * assisting systems team with monitoring and remediation of problems, * providing support for our users when applicable, * helping us keep our data center facilities clean, organized, and in top shape, and * joining the team in our weekly meeting and online collaborative spaces.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency. Prior experience in systems administration or research computing is a plus, but is not required. The ideal candidate will be: * comfortable working with computer hardware (replacing system components, etc.), * familiar with the Linux operating system (we use RedHat/CentOS), * reliable, responsible, willing to work independently, and eager to learn onthejob.

The Research Computing Center (RCC) serves the Florida State University research community by providing a range of computational science resources, such as the High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, Interactive Computing (“Spear”), and large data storage systems. The RCC operates within Florida State University as an academic service unit of Information Technology Services (ITS). This unique partnership enables the RCC to leverage university ITS infrastructure and places the RCC in a position to support university wide research.
Schedule
This is a 10 hour per week OPS position. Scheduling is flexible.
