General Summary:
The Florida Senate is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to serve in the Office of Senate Information Technology. This position serves as a conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions that meet user needs. The successful candidate will work with the latest Microsoft tools in a forward-thinking environment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Uses strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Elicit and evaluate business requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
- Prepare accurate and detailed requirements specification documents, user interface guides, and functional specification documents.
- Possesses expertise in the business unit(s) they support, as well as, an understanding of the IT organization’s systems and capabilities.
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
- Design and execute test scripts and test scenarios.
- Coordinate with the user community to test, validate, evaluate new applications and functions, and determine issues.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and two years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling six years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Hands on experience in capturing customer requirements and translating into technical specifications and system functionality.
- Knowledge of the application development lifecycle and experience with requirements analysis through testing.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems design a plus.
- Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements.
- Ability to prepare program specifications.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbal and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in business analysis and/or application development.
Salary:
$43,548 – $93,252 (Hiring salary commensurate with experience)
