DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS Comments    The DeKalb County School District is seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as Communications Specialist. Under the supervision of the Communications Officer, the Communications Specialist assists with the transmission and distribution of internal and external communications for the DeKalb County School District.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, community relations, and governmental relations; principles relative to traditional and digital photography; DeKalb County School District’s policies and procedures
Skill in effective oral, written and interpersonal communication; and establishing and maintaining effective working and public relations; use of photo processing software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop)
Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups; assimilate information from a variety of sources; analyze information and recommend courses of actions to be taken; demonstrate patience while working with children and adults; properly store, use, and maintain equipment; use relevant computer applications; prioritize assignments; and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an approved accredited college or university required. Prefer degree in communications, journalism, photojournalism or equivalent field of study. Minimum of two (2) years experience working in public relations as a journalist, photographer, photojournalist or similar profession. Digital processing (Adobe Photoshop) and professional writing experience required.
