System Administrator

Position Purpose

The System Administrator assists with the support and oversight of the FSU Foundation computing and network environment.  The incumbent will be part of the team that is responsible for providing a highly available, robust, and secure infrastructure for the University’s Advancement efforts.  The incumbent will also be responsible for providing high-quality customer service and promoting end user satisfaction by facilitating the use of computers and information technology within the FSU Foundation.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide Windows Active Directory support implementing best practices with regard to security and performance
  • Provides Active Directory account maintenance and security, maintaining NTFS file permissions, login scripts, monitoring domain and local group policies and other routine system administration duties
  • Manages the Foundation’s Citrix XenApp Server Farm
  • Manage, monitor and test the Foundation’s backup and recovery plan and procedures
  • Recommend, schedule and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations and/or purchases
  • Oversight and troubleshoot issues with the domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, file/print services, web, database and application servers
  • Serves as the liaison between the FSU Foundation and the campus units in regards to 2nd and 3rd tier support of the fundraisers located outside the Foundation building
  • Provides support for the Microsoft Windows computing infrastructure by installing/resolving issues with desktop hardware and software including operating systems, desktop applications, computer peripherals, printers, PDAs and multimedia equipment
  • Manages Nexpose network scans
  • Coordinates the laptop requirements for external employees that are located off-site
  • Provides appropriate service, support and advice to end users regarding technical issues
  • Adheres to Information Services change management policies and procedures
  • Assists with the rollout of new computers, desktop imaging, and maintains inventory of all computer equipment
  • Assists in managing the Foundation’s Exchange, SQL and SharePoint Server environment
  • Assists in managing the Universities third-party fundraising systems and directly coordinates with the hardware and software vendors
  • Assists the Department of Information Services with other duties as assigned
  • Protects confidential information

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or a combination of experience and job related certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of providing systems and server administration in a professional Microsoft IT environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of providing technical support in a professional IT environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory/Group Policy support required
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise level backup applications required
  • Experience with Windows 8.1 and Server 2008/above operating systems, and current versions of Microsoft Office applications required
  • Experience with managing a Citrix XenApp Farm strongly preferred
  • Experience with server health/monitoring applications preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server and/or SharePoint desirable
  • Ability to evaluate and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations
  • Strong ability to diagnose network, server/computer, and end user problems, identifying and implementing resolutions
