Position Purpose
The Web Application Specialist in the Department of Information Services will be responsible for the development, configuration, maintenance, and administration of the Foundation’s public website as well as the University’s alumni/donor online community. The University’s alumni/donor online community is a collaborative effort among major FSU stakeholders including the FSU Foundation, Alumni Association, Seminole Boosters, and the Ringling Museum. The website and online community are developed using third party CMS platforms.
This role acts as the subject matter expert for the community of power users operating across each of the organizations, and is responsible for leading the development of website content in adherence with community guidelines, training the community members in each organization, and configuring all necessary integrations between the third party CMS and CRM systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for this position.
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop, test, maintain, support and administer the Foundation’s website as well as the University’s alumni/donor online community
- Develop and document guidelines, standards, and templates for use within vendor CMS, and monitor adherence across all University Advancement community member organizations
- Train other web support staff across all University Advancement community member organizations in the implementation and/or use of guidelines, standards, and templates, and coordinate periodic user group meetings to share knowledge, reinforce training, and address emerging needs.
- Assist in designing responsive web templates and pages that render well on both desktop computers as well as tablets and mobile devices
- Design, develop, test, maintain, support, and administer dynamic web pages and web parts from within vendor CMS platforms.
- Configure integrations between the vendor CMS and CRM systems
- Provide end user application support
- Coordinate application upgrades between vendor, IT team, and the University Advancement community’s web support staff
- Basic SQL Querying and Analysis related to application troubleshooting and support
- Adhere to Information Services change management policies and procedures
- Assists the Department of Information Services with other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of education
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience required
- Strong aptitude for diagnosing end user problems, identifying and implementing solutions required
- Experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery required
- Experience with Bootstrap preferred
- Experience with Drupal, Joomla, WordPress or other CMS preferred
- Knowledge of web site design for tablet and mobile devices preferred
- Adobe Photoshop preferred
- Microsoft Visual Studio preferred
- SQL programming and T-SQL experience preferred
- Experience gathering business requirements for web design preferred
- Knowledge of Blackbaud Net Community (BBNC) or Blackbaud Internet Solutions (BBIS) preferred
