The School of Information‘s Marcia Mardis has been awarded the Developing Scholar Award by the Council on Research and Creativity (CRC) at Florida State University. Dr. Mardis is the second School of Information faculty member to ever have received this distinction.

The Developing Scholar Award is based upon an evaluation of Mardis’ scholarly activities at Florida State University. The award program was created to recognize scholarly activity in FSU faculty who are several years advanced into their careers. The award also aims to stimulate additional development of quality programs at Florida State.  Peers within and beyond FSU nominated Mardis for this award.

A Developing Scholar honoree receives a one-time award of $10,000 that is to be used to promote the awardee’s program of research and creativity during the academic year following the award’s presentation. Dr. Mardis will continue her research in digital resource quality evaluation through an educator workshop and collaborative work with colleagues at University of Colorado and Utah State University.

Mardis will be honored during the Faculty Awards Ceremony on April 27, 2015 at the Alumni Center.
