OPS Student Assistant
Department: School of Communication
Hours: Between 8:00 am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday 16 hours per week

Major Function: The person in this position provides office/clerical assistance to School of Communication Staff and Faculty to include: answering phone and directing calls to appropriate areas, performing various clerical duties including using a PC and typewriter, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), filing documents, faxing, copying, processing and distribution of incoming mail, performing daily campus deliveries, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Training/Experience: Fully admitted School of Communication major, available to be at work at 8am or work until 5pm daily, Monday through Friday, prefer one year of office/clerical experience. Preference will be given to applicants with experience using Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel), the Internet and email.
Successful Applicants will demonstrate the following: Knowledge of basic office practices and principles. Ability to enter data into database systems and have attention to detail. Professionalism in working and ability to work with confidential information and understanding that it is essential that information remain confidential. Ability to interact with and communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to stay focused and multi-task in a high paced office environment.
