The 2013 FSU Supervisors’ Conference, sponsored by the School of Communication Science & Disorders, will be held on Wednesday, May 15, from 1-4:30 p.m. This event will take place at the FSU Turnbull Conference Center located at 555 West Pensacola Street. Free visitor parking is available in the attached parking garage on level 4.
The conference topic is ethics education for students and how to address ethical behavior with them in supervisory contexts, as well as ethics of supervision. By attending this event, participants will learn how to:
- List the characteristics that lead to the development of a self-monitoring profession
- Identify professional vs. non-professional behavior
- Describe the means by which a self-monitoring profession develops a Code of Ethics
- Identify & teach ethical issues most germane for student learning
- Determine a means for using ethical behavior to guide decisions affecting others
Sue T. Hale will be the conference’s guest speaker discussing “Ethical Decision-Making: What Students and Professionals Need to Know.” Hale serves as Director of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at Vanderbilt University. She is the former President of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Hale has also contributed on many ASHA boards and committees.
